The WUC is deeply concerned and angry about the failure of the Moa Point plant and the discharge of raw sewerage into our moana. Pollution of this scale is unacceptable. There is no excuse for it.
We have formally called on Wellington City Council, Wellington Water, and Wellington Regional Council to: fix the plant immediately and stop any further sewerage discharges; hold a full and public inquiry into what went wrong and who is responsible; apologise to the community; and ensure this can never happen again. Wellington's marine environment is a taonga. It deserves far better than this.
If you care about our coast and moana, please share our facebook post to help fix the problem and hold decision-makers to account.

The following page has details on water testing at beaches in the area. Tests take time to analyse so details will at best be for the previous day.
